This role is responsible for advanced networking configurations and issue resolutions within a variety of MSP client environments, and plays a critical part in building and maintaining client networking infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings advanced networking knowledge and technical skills, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and a customer-first mindset.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Role & Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues involving firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and general connectivity.</li> <li>Support and maintain firewall environments, including rule changes, VPN configuration, firmware updates, and security reviews.</li> <li>Configure and support managed switches, including VLANs, trunking, port assignments, PoE, and firmware maintenance.</li> <li>Support wireless networks, including SSID configuration, access point updates, coverage reviews, and performance troubleshooting.</li> <li>Monitor client networks and respond to alerts related to device availability, performance, and connectivity.</li> <li>Assist with network project work, including firewall replacements, switch upgrades, wireless deployments, and network refresh initiatives.</li> <li>Perform network assessments to identify end-of-life, end-of-support, unsupported, or misconfigured network equipment.</li> <li>Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, device inventories, IP addressing, VLANs, and configuration notes.</li> <li>Coordinate with vendors for support cases, RMAs, licensing, and troubleshooting when needed.</li> <li>Follow established change management, documentation, and security processes.</li> <li>Work escalated network tickets from the service desk, NOC, or client-facing teams.</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working in an MSP or multi-client environment.</li> <li>Experience with network monitoring tools such as Auvik, Meraki Dashboard, SonicWall NSM, or similar platforms.</li> <li>Experience supporting vendors such as SonicWall, Meraki, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Extreme, or similar platforms.</li> <li>Experience performing firewall reviews, switch audits, wireless assessments, and firmware upgrade planning.</li> <li>Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, Meraki ECMS, SonicWall SNSA, Fortinet NSE, or other network-focused certifications preferred.</li> <li>Experience assisting with network documentation standards, topology diagrams, and client environment reviews.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Soft Skill Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.</li> <li>Ability to clearly explain network issues, risks, and recommendations.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail when documenting configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.</li> <li>Ability to work independently while also collaborating with service teams, project teams, vendors, and clients.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues from start to finish.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Customer-focused mindset with a professional and helpful approach.</li> <li>Willingness to follow standards, processes, and change management requirements.</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Technical Skill Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Firewalls: rule management, NAT, VPNs, firmware updates, access control, and basic security hardening.</li> <li>Switching: VLANs, trunking, access ports, PoE, spanning tree, port security, and switch firmware maintenance.</li> <li>Wireless: SSIDs, access point placement, channel planning, signal coverage, firmware updates, and performance troubleshooting.</li> <li>Routing: static routes, basic dynamic routing concepts, gateway configuration, and network segmentation.</li> <li>VPN: site-to-site VPNs, client VPNs, authentication methods, and tunnel troubleshooting.</li> <li>Core networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, ARP, ICMP, subnetting, and network troubleshooting.</li> <li>Monitoring: network alerting, uptime monitoring, performance monitoring, and device health review.</li> <li>Documentation: network diagrams, device inventories, IP schemes, VLAN tables, firewall notes, and topology documentation.</li> <li>Vendor support: opening cases, gathering logs, coordinating RMAs, and working through vendor troubleshooting steps.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Information Security Commitment</strong></p> <p>This role operates within a managed services environment and will have access to client systems, data, and infrastructure.
