Job Description We have an opening for aProduct Realization Team (PRT) Leadfor the W87-0 Program's Joint Test Assembly (JTA) PRT. You will lead the PRT to develop requirements and produce components within the specific PRT's scope in partnership with the NNSA Production Agencies, Sandia National Laboratories, and programmatic staff from across LLNL. You will lead the technical execution of JTA production, and manage a detailed schedule in coordination with a project management specialist to ensure on time delivery. This position will be in Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate. DTED supports the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Program. This position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level. You will Provide direction and guidance to a team of engineers to accomplish complex project engineering, product realization, and qualification goals. Collaborate with team members to complete PRT deliverables. Identify issues and take action to help mitigate risks to project scope and schedule. Manage and maintain effective PRT relationships with Production Agencies (PAs) executing JTA component and assembly manufacturing. Work under limited direction of the program production lead. Help define project objectives and set specific technical direction of the PRT. Perform technical assessments in support of product realization. Effectively document decisions, analyses, and test results in technical reports and engineering release systems. Remain cognizant of complex technical goals, problems, and solutions. Track progress of tasks, milestones, and schedules to ensure deadlines are met. Represent the PRT at meetings, briefings, and review activities both internal and external to the Laboratory. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.3 level Establish clear and informed priorities for the team to achieve PRT milestones and deliverables on schedule. Manage execution of parallel risk mitigations. Coordinate with program leadership on staffing and resource requirements. Provide technical advice to program leadership and sponsors on design requirements, qualification scope, qualification risks, and trade offs. Include recommendations that influence project direction. Formulate, present, and explain technical and programmatic updates. Ensure that PRT risks and requirements are communicated in an effective and timely manner, and provide recommendations to program leadership, production agency partners, and external sponsors. Qualifications This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with weapon system engineering, product realization processes, and process qualification. Problem solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions for moderately complex technical challenges. Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, present and explain technical information, and document work products. Ability to work independently within the scope of an assignment, prioritize tasks, respond to changing priorities, and meet deadlines while keeping management informed. Proficient organizational skills and experience with project management tools and techniques. Ability to travel. Additional qualifications at the SES.3 level Advanced knowledge and experience with weapon system engineering, product realization processes, and qualification. Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, present and explain technical information, and document work products. Advanced problem solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions for complex technical challenges. Advanced organizational skills and applied experience with project management tools and techniques. Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to less-experienced staff. Qualifications We Desire Significant experience in nuclear weapon systems engineering and design. Significant experience with NNSA production agencies. Pay Range $146,340
