Our client, a rapidly growing crypto hedge fund and proprietary trading firm with consistent 200%+ annualized returns generated with a 4+ Sharpe ratio, are seeking researchers for their real-time information flows team. This role aims to capitalize on the opportunity to react to market-moving events.

  • Experience: Background in extracting alpha from market-moving events.
  • Insight: Familiarity with valuable sources, individuals, and topics to track.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming and Creating Alerts:
  • Source Identification: Constantly brainstorm additional sources for our real-time information (RTI) system.
  • Alert Optimization: Optimize alerts based on precision/recall scores.
  • Event Calendar Maintenance: Maintain a detailed calendar of material events.
  • Monitoring and Quality Assurance:
  • Alert Management: Enable, disable, and update alerts as market conditions change.
  • Review Process: Review alerts to ensure they remain relevant and resilient.
  • Event Analysis: Analyze and alert the firm to market-moving events.
  • Working with Technical Team:
  • Product Development: Direct product development of our real-time event detection and alerting system.
  • QA/UAT Testing: Conduct QA/UAT and test all alerts and products to meet trading and research needs.

Requirements

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Industry Background: Prior experience in trading firms, hedge funds, market intelligence, or financial news organizations.
  • Market Understanding: Deep understanding of real-time information flows and market dynamics.
  • Source Tracking: Familiarity with tracking high-impact sources and topics.
  • Scoring Knowledge: Knowledge of precision/recall scoring methods for alert optimization.

Technical & Analytical Skills:

  • Source Integration: Ability to identify and integrate new news sources into our RTI system.
  • Analytical Refinement: Strong analytical skills to refine alerts based on market conditions.
  • Tool Experience: Experience with alerting and monitoring tools, including setup and troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration Skills: Collaboration with technical teams on product development.

Operational & Communication Skills:

  • Detail Orientation: High attention to detail for maintaining an accurate tabulation of market events.
  • Decision Making: Ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Communication Excellence: Excellent communication skills to convey insights to traders and researchers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scripting Proficiency: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data analysis and automation.
