Position Overview:

The Renewable Energy Expert will support implementation and monitoring of renewable energy programmes including PM-KUSUM and related initiatives in the state. The role involves coordination with State implementing agencies, DISCOMs, and stakeholders to ensure effective programme execution and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Monitoring and Implementation Support

  • Support in overall programme management and delivery of renewable energy initiatives in the state

  • Monitor implementation progress of PM-KUSUM and other distributed renewable energy programmes against defined targets and timelines

  • Track project-level performance (physical and financial) and identify bottlenecks affecting deployment

  • Support preparation of progress reports, dashboards, and review notes for the client and relevant authorities

Project Management and Coordination

  • Coordinate with state implementing agencies, DISCOMs, EPC contractors, and field agencies to ensure smooth execution of approved projects

  • Facilitate resolution of site-level issues such as approvals, connectivity, procurement, and commissioning delays

  • Support structured review meetings and provide actionable recommendations to improve implementation efficiency

Technical and Commercial Support

  • Review technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy projects (primarily solar) related to feasibility, deployment models, and implementation frameworks

  • Support evaluation of procurement processes, vendor performance, and project timelines

  • Assist in identifying improvements in project design, execution strategies, and programme delivery mechanisms

Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening

  • Design and deliver training programmes for implementing agencies and DISCOM personnel on programme implementation, monitoring tools, and reporting frameworks

  • Develop standard templates, guidelines, and SOPs for project monitoring and data management

  • Support knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices across stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with multiple stakeholders including government agencies, DISCOMs, vendors, and beneficiaries

  • Support coordination between central schemes and state-level implementation agencies

  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders for timely execution and improved programme outcomes

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering

  • Master’s degree in engineering or management (preferred)

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience working with RE companies

  • Experience in monitoring/management of at least two renewable energy projects supporting state-owned power utilities or RE development agencies

  • Experience in working with international organizations

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project lifecycle (planning to commissioning)

  • Familiarity with government schemes such as PM-KUSUM and distributed RE programmes

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, reporting dashboards)

  • Experience working with public sector and/or international development organizations

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Fluency in spoken and written English

This is a Fixed term contract for 18 months at client site.
