Supervising Dentist, Dental Studies, Part-time<br /><br />Category: Professional Staff<br /><br />Subscribe: New Job Alerts<br /><br />RSS Job Feed<br /><br />Department: Dental Clinic<br /><br />Locations: Rochester, NY<br /><br />Posted: Apr 22, 2025<br /><br />Closes: Open Until Filled<br /><br />Type: Part Time<br /><br />Position ID: 187540<br /><br />Job Description:<br /><br />Function of Position:<br /><br />Supervising Dentist for Dental Hygiene Clinic, Part-Time Hourly, Semester-by- Semester Appointment.<br /><br />Provides General Supervision for dental hygiene services as stated in 61.9 b under the NYS OP-Ed, Practice of dental hygiene.<br /><br />Provides Personal Supervision for dental hygiene services as stated in 61.9 c under the NYS OP-Ed, Practice of dental hygiene.<br /><br />Provides Personal Supervision for dental assisting students during patient treatment labs.<br /><br />Substitutes for other supervising dentists as personal schedule allows.<br /><br />Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:<br /><br />Provides diagnostic, consultive, and referral services with guidance from full-time clinical coordinators. <br /><br />Evaluates patient medical and dental history, periodontal charting, and restorative charting.<br /><br />Consults with primary care providers for medical clearance.<br /><br />Evaluates lesions, anomalies, or other pathologies for referral.<br /><br />Manages medical emergencies.<br /><br />Approves and evaluates dental radiographs.<br /><br />Follows AAP guidelines.<br /><br />Approves, administers, and/or supervises the administration of local anesthesia by<br /><br />faculty.<br /><br />Authorizes and evaluates dental sealants.<br /><br />Provides instruction and evaluation in the clinical setting.<br /><br />Serves as a resource for questions that faculty/students may have regarding patient<br /><br />care.<br /><br />Attends and participates in Dental Studies in-service/calibration seminars, program and department meetings, and advisory board meetings.<br /><br />Coordinates and calibrates with full-time clinical course coordinators.<br /><br />Understands and applies Monroe Community College, Federal, State, ADA CODA, OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, FERPA, and State Board of Dentistry guidelines, policies, rules, and/or regulations.<br /><br />Complies with and is present at ADA CODA Accreditation Site Visits.<br /><br />Completes required MCC Human Resources on-boarding and annual compliance trainings.<br /><br />Completes MCC Dental Studies Department educational methods coursework.<br /><br />MCC Expectations:<br /><br />Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.<br /><br />Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.<br /><br />Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.<br /><br />Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.<br /><br />Commits to professional growth. which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.<br /><br />Requirements:<br /><br />Required Qualifications:<br /><br />Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from an accredited college or university.<br /><br />Current unencumbered license to practice dentistry in New York State.<br /><br />Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience.<br /><br />CPR for Health Professionals certified.<br /><br />A valid NYS driver's license with a clean record and access to reliable transportation.<br /><br />Evidence of effective communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, and writing).<br /><br />Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds,<br /><br />abilities, and needs.<br /><br />Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.<br /><br />Evidence of proficiency with technology.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications:<br /><br />Background in educational methodology<br /><br />Active professional membership<br /><br />Dental office management, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software<br /><br />Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently<br /><br />Additional Information:<br /><br />Salary: Hourly and commensurate with clinical experience and teaching background, $45-$75/hour in person (remote general supervision is only used when an assigned dentist has a personal emergency).<br /><br />Assignment: 4-hour clinic blocks during the day and evening for the 15-week semester. Substitute dentists are on-call as needed.<br /><br />Fall Semester Clinic Schedule:<br /><br />Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00-11:50 am and/or 1:00-4:50 pm<br /><br />Monday, Wednesday: 5:30-9:20 pm<br /><br />Spring Semester Clinic Schedule:<br /><br />Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00-11:50 am and/or 1:00-4:50 pm<br /><br />Friday: 8:00-11:50 am and/or 1:00-4:50 pm<br /><br />Monday, Wednesday: 5:30-9:20 pm<br /><br />Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications.
