About GDB Security

GDB Security is a boutique cybersecurity consultancy founded by a former NSA and Google security leader, ex-CISO of a fintech firm protecting AI systems responsible for over 10% of US equities market volume. We operate with family offices and private wealth clients on AI security, data privacy, and building trust in their technology environments. Our clients manage generational assets and expect the same discretion from everyone they work with. As the consultancy grows, we’re seeking a trusted partner that can operate with autonomy, sound judgment, and a high bar for quality. We don't micromanage and we don't want to.

The Role

We're looking for one exceptional senior IT administrator to support our clients and help us manage the security vendors and tools that underpin our client work. This is a trusted, relationship-based engagement with a small team of senior executives.

What you'll own:

Microsoft 365 Administration. Full tenant management including user provisioning, license management, offboarding, and configuration. Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive administration. Security and compliance monitoring within the M365 admin console.

Identity and Access Security. 2FA and MFA setup and enforcement across all users and devices. Conditional access policies and Azure Active Directory management. Intune device management for Mac and Windows endpoints. Regular access reviews and permissions hygiene.

Security Vendor Management. Helping manage relationships and configurations with our security tool vendors. Keeping our security stack current, configured correctly, and working together. Flagging issues before they become problems and recommending improvements as our needs evolve.

Executive IT Support. Providing reliable, polished technical support to our clients. Responding quickly to day to day technical questions and issues. Translating technical matters into plain language for clients and making them feel at ease as they navigate new technical arenas.

What you won't be doing:

Fielding a constant stream of tickets. Being managed closely.

Who You Are

You have at least five to seven years of hands-on IT administration experience, ideally supporting senior executives or leadership teams at a professional services, financial services, legal, or family office environment.

You hold Microsoft 365 certifications, ideally the M365 Administrator Expert, Security Administrator Associate, or equivalent.

You understand that working with a security consultancy means discretion, attention to detail, and doing things right the first time is non-negotiable. High integrity is a must.

You are self-directed. You don't wait to be told what to do next. You take initiative, flag issues proactively, and genuinely take ownership of the environments you manage.

You communicate clearly, respond promptly, and know how to work with senior people who move fast and value someone who stays one step ahead.

The Arrangement

This starts at 2-10 hours per month with the expectation of growing as the business grows. At our rate this represents meaningful, reliable income alongside your other commitments. We are looking for someone who sees this as a long-term relationship, not a one-off project.

To Apply

Please begin your proposal with the phrase "family office ready" so we know you've read carefully.

Tell us briefly about a specific engagement where you supported senior executives or a leadership team in a security-conscious environment, what the scope was, and what made it work. Include your M365 certifications and preferred hourly rate.
