Position: Insurance Underwriters

Type: Hourly contract

Compensation: $50–$80/hr

Location: Remote

Commitment: 30+ hours/week

Duration: ~6 weeks

Role Responsibilities

  • Evaluate insurance applications, loss histories, and third-party reports to determine underwriting acceptability.
  • Calculate premiums using ISO manuals, class codes, and company‑specific rating logic.
  • Analyze historical claims data to assess loss trends and loss ratios.
  • Draft and review policy terms, endorsements, and declarations.
  • Review referred underwriting cases and provide documented decisions with clear risk rationale.
  • Support the improvement of automated underwriting and risk assessment workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in commercial or personal lines underwriting.
  • Strong experience working with underwriting platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar systems.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO classification codes, rating manuals, and policy forms.
  • Strong ability to assess risk using multi‑source data inputs.
  • Experience reviewing third‑party reports including CLUE, MVR, and LexisNexis.
  • High attention to detail and sound underwriting judgment across multiple lines of business.
